They successively replace Sylvie Nzeyimana, Sanctus Niragira, Déo Rusengwamihigo and Ézéchiel Nibigira.

Among the new ministers is a representative of a local human rights organisation close to the government. This is Venuste Muyabaga leading the”Berintahe”, a local association which has demonstrated its attachment and support to the Burundian regime over these recent years and particularly since the political crisis of 2015, triggered by another controversial term of the late President Pierre Nkurunziza the same year.

“You are like a coach. It is up to you to consider how to change the players to lead the match well. You coordinate. If there are players who do not fulfill their role, everyone suffers.” Senate President Emmanuel Sinzohagera told Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca this Monday afternoon. Mr. Ndirakobuca presented a report on the action plan for the second semester, financial year 2022-2023 before the two chambers of the parliement combined.

The CNDD-FDD has also acquired new commissioners

Last Saturday, the presidential party also made a reshuffle within its leadership team.

Doriane Munezero replaced Nancy Ninette Mutoni as information officer, Calinie Mbarushimana replaces Godelieve Nininahazwe as the one in charge of culture and traditions as well as Denis Karera who will manage the CNDD-FDD leagues, replacing Lazare Mvuyekure.

Denis Karera returns to the helm of Imbonerakure among others, members of the CNDD-FDD youth league, a party position he held before the 2015 political crisis.

The Imbonerakure have been described as a “militia” by the United Nations.

Doriane Munezero was until then deputy spokesperson for President Évariste Ndayishimiye. She had been assigned to the office in charge of communications of the President of the Republic for more than eight years.

According to sources close to the ruling party, Nancy Ninette Mutoni is expected to be given a post abroad as ambassador.
