Around forty health workers including 19 Americans from intensive care, dentistry, obstetric gynecology and the maintenance department, exchanged experience at the Kamenge military hospital, in the north of the economic capital Bujumbura.
“This exercise contributes to the development of our knowledge, with a view to providing better quality care,” points out Brigadier General Dr Marc Nimburanira, Director General of the military hospital.
According to the US ambassador to Burundi, Americans are taking the opportunity to see how in places with limited resources, people manage to treat patients and achieve good results.
“On the other hand, our staff wins because they also learn new skills to provide quality care,” adds Dr. Nimburanira.
The US Ambassador to Burundi mentioned that this bilateral engagement provided the military and civilian communities of Burundi with the best possible medical care and services. Lisa J.Peterson announced that this type of partnership and cooperation which began last year seems quite promising and that the USA hopes to extend it until 2025.
Burundi is the only African country to benefit from this partnership.
