The council chamber of the Bururi Court of Appeal decided to keep them in detention on November 4. The decision was communicated to them this Thursday. They are being prosecuted for “forgery of public documents”.
According to our sources, the clerk reversed the names of the winner and the loser on a copy of the judgment. She apologized before the council chamber, according to judicial sources.
The president of the Mugamba court was accused of not having corrected this error. Jean de Dieu Ndayishimiye pleaded not guilty. He explained that no one complained to him and that the clerk never informed him of this error.
Judicial sources believe that the two officials should be released especially since the error did not harm anyone.
