Buganda : a police officer cowardly killed

Pascal Nduwimana was killed on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. This PNB (Burundi National Police) officer was beheaded by residents while he was stealing loincloths. Two suspects – civilians were arrested. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

The officer was posted on a bridge under construction connecting Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) via the Rusizi River. He was savagely killed. Eyewitnesses told SOS Médias Burundi that the officer was beheaded. His body was recovered on Thursday morning by his colleagues in the locality of Kansega at the 3rd avenue, where his murder took place.

Residents claim that the victim was stealing loincloths at the time of the lynching.

“This policeman used to follow cross-border traders and checked the houses in which they put their loincloths. Around 2 a.m. on Thursday, a man who lives not far from the border surprised him before calling neighbors,” say residents. The policeman was not armed and had put his uniform in a backpack, SOS Médias Burundi learned. The owner of the loincloths and a neighbor were arrested by the local police. They are incarcerated in the cell of the provincial police station in Cibitoke (northwest Burundi).

The district police commissioner regretted “bad conduct” which led to the death of a person.
