Mutumba: discovery of a woman’s body

According to witnesses, the body of Anitha Ndaharindiye, 32 years old and mother of five children, was found Thursday, April 6, 2023 around 10 a.m. in a small bush, 200 meters from her home on Mutara hill in the commune of Mutumba in Karusi province.
“The victim was slaughtered then decapitated like an animal”, say witnesses of the macabre discovery.
Tharcisse Barukinamwo, hill chief of Mutara says that the motives of the crime are not yet known but suspect land disputes. The administration announces that the police have opened an investigation.
Three men suspected of having played a role in the assassination of Anitha Ndaharindiye have been arrested. They are incarcerated in the cell of the provincial police station in Karusi.
Earlier this week, another young woman was killed in the locality of Gahahe in the north of the commercial city Bujumbura. Local sources speak of a robbery gone wrong.
