The first body to be discovered was that of 10-year-old Bruce Bikorimana, found on Rukana II hill in Rugombo commune. The body was found in a ditch filled with water, according to residents. The horrible discovery took place last Sunday late in the afternoon. The victim disappeared the same day’s morning, local sources say. Local authorities suspects a lot, the possibility of an accident.
Not far from Rugombo, the body of a thirty-year-old was discovered in the locality of Kaburantwa in Buganda commune on Monday morning. He was not recognized. Witnesses speak of murder.
“He was strangled,” witnesses say.
The municipal administration ordered the burial of the body. Residents who spoke to SOS Médias Burundi regret “a hasty burial”. They demand that in such cases the bodies be put in the morgue pending identification.
“The administrative authorities must even broadcast press releases on the radio so that families who have lost theirs can come and see if it is their family member,” they believe.
Buganda municipal administrator Pamphile Hakizimana declined to comment on this.
