According to witnesses on the spot, the incident occurred in the suspect’s home. The victim, a 15-year-old girl who was his domestic, was allegedly assaulted while the accused’s wife is currently hospitalized at Rumonge hospital.

The Imbonerakure (members of the CNDD-FDD youth league), who were doing their nightly rounds in the neighborhood, intervened quickly after hearing the girl’s calls for help. The suspect was arrested around 2 a.m. before being handed over to police authorities.

A resident of the Kanyenkoko neighborhood, contacted Saturday morning, confirmed that the victim had been taken to Rumonge hospital, where she is currently receiving appropriate medical care.

The Rumonge provincial police detained the suspect at the local police station. An investigation has been launched by the judicial police to gather more information on circumstances and motivations of this crime.
