Ituri: a dozen civilians including children abducted

Unidentified gunmen abducted twelve people, including seven schoolchildren. The incident took place on Monday in the village of Bukiringi in the chiefdom of Walendu Bindi in the territory of Irumu (province of Ituri), eastern the DRC. The alert was launched by the head of the civil protection service in the province of Ituri.

“[…], in total, twelve people: seven children, four women and a man were kidnapped on Monday in the village of Bukiringi. They schoolchildren. We do not yet know the identity of the kidnappers, nor to where the hostages were taken,” said Roger Ndjalonga, provincial civil protection coordinator.

He calls on local, territorial, provincial and security authorities to get involved in the search for the hostages.

The military and administrative authorities have not yet reacted.
