Rumonge: provincial authority is seeking aid for over 3,300 flood victims

On December 5, torrential rains hit localities in the commune and province of Rumonge (Southwest of Burundi). The local authorities gave a balance sheet of 3,370 needy people whose homes and belongings were destroyed by the rain. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

The overall toll of victims of torrential rains is given by the local administration.

“There are already 3,370 houses destroyed in the entire Kizuka zone.
The victims lost all belongings along with houses,” she said.

The assistance is also requested for the 1250 affected students who lost their school materials.

“Other families in need have been taken in charge by other households whose houses have not been demolished by the rain,” said an agent from an organization in charge of disaster management in Rumonge.

The provincial authority of Rumonge asks the government, the partners of the province, the natives and other benefactors to bring help to the population of the zone of Kizuka of which thousands of inhabitants are in desolation.

That torrential rains hit the hills of Mbuga, Mwange, Munege and Kizuka on the morning of 5 December.
