According to Jean-Claude Nguriye, the displaced persons of Kasenyi have just totaled several months without the slightest assistance.

They go out in the streets to beg which exposes them to a series of difficulties including accidents, torture and sexual violence against women and young girls.

“We have been here since October 27, 2022. We have never received any assistance. Our life is very difficult. We beg for something to eat. Good people will give us food, but others torture us. Other displaced people are victims of traffic accidents as women are raped. Those who miss to eat go home and sleep with an empty stomach, ”describes the president of this site.

To avoid the worst, Adventist site manager of Kasenyi requests assistance from humanitarian organizations and the government and the restoration of peace in the region.

The Kasenyi site has already recorded four deaths as result of starvation and other hardships such as shortage of drinking water and overflowing toilets.

More than 100,000 have been displaced and dozens killed in attacks by armed groups in the province of North Kivu, eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to UN report in mid March this year.
