According to reliable information, Marie Goreth Irankunda first appeared before the General Prosecutor’s Office at the Makamba Court of Appeal. She was not assisted by a lawyer.
“This Wednesday, she was summoned to the public prosecutor’s office to the Makamba Court of Appeal. The next day, she was questioned by the anti-corruption brigade,” say our sources.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate that she was questioned about embezzlement and mismanagement of the property of her commune.
Neither the prosecution nor the anti-corruption brigade has so far announced the reasons and the results of the interrogation.
For months, the commune of Nyanza-Lac has been going through a leadership crisis. The municipal council dismissed the administrator and her close aids in early December. But they are reluctant to comply.
The situation is far from being resolved, the provincial representation and the central administration of the CNDD-FDD, the presidential party being divided on this subject.
