Information confirmed by Modeste Ngendakumana, village chief at Rukoba who reports that the alleged thief was apprehended after stealing a solar plate and a battery from the home of a certain Dismas Bizindavyi.

“The identity of the bandit is not yet known. His body was taken to the morgue of the regional hospital of Gitega. An investigation has been opened,” said the hill official.

Stealing in households and in the fields is becoming more and more worrying in certain areas of the province of Gitega.

On the night of February 18, Elias Ndikumana, 63, father of eight children, was clubbed to death by bandits who were trying to steal his goats and sheep on this Rukoba hill.
