This information is confirmed by the police of Gitega which specifies that the victim was reportedly savagely killed, stabbed then slaughtered by criminals who have not yet been identified. The crime took place on Friday night around 11 p.m. when the man returned to his home located in the village of Kibogoye (same district).

The local police say they do not know the motives for the murder and announce that they have launched an investigation. No suspects have been arrested so far.

At the end of last February, a corpse of a young girl was found in the locality of Mugitega. It is in the district of Bugendana in the province of Gitega.
