DRC: LUCHA demands legal proceedings against the CENI chairman

The fight for change “LUCHA”, a citizen movement for human rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo, demands the “immediate resignation” of Denis Kadima, president of the Independent National Electoral Commission. This movement also demands legal proceedings for the person some observers found inadequate in the conduct of the DRC’s electoral process. INFO SOS Médias Burundi

In a statement issued this Tuesday, December 26 in Goma, on the electoral process, the LUCHA’s young activists describe Denis Kadima as an “amateur” and “incompetent” in the organization of the election on December 20.

“Fight for Change” indicates that since the start of the electoral process, it has continued to denounce “the strong dependence of the current electoral bodies’ leaders”.

LUCHA also doubts the transparency in the management of funds allocated to the elections and asks the Constitutional Court to cancel the elections.

“A serious audit of the CENI’s accounts must be carried out to determine the use of election financing. The Constitutional Court must cancel the elections of December 20 because it is proven that irregularities, fraud and disorders recorded during the vote undermined the integrity of the elections….”, we read in this statement.

To political actors, LUCHA urges them to express their electoral demands in non-violence, respect for the laws, rights and freedoms recognized to each citizen by the Constitution.

She also asks the Congolese population to remain vigilant and mobilized both for the transparency of elections and for the general governance of the country.
